Clear the future. Finalised in the middle of the pandemic’s dreaded second wave, this EBU report investigates the impact of COVID 19 on public service media in Europe to draw important lessons for the industry’s future. The design by Alt8 stresses the need for clarity and perspective in confusing times, with straight-forward texts and graphics in trustworthy deep blue, offset by an optimistic yellow shining from the gutters. Using focus and partial obstruction, the photographs by Tomas Mutsaers engage the audience in a search for what truly matters. The resulting hardcover magazine reflects the remarkable resilience of PSM newsrooms in unprecedented times.
Blik op de toekomst. Afgerond tijdens de gevreesde tweede golf van de pandemie, onderzoekt dit EBU rapport de impact van COVID 19 op publieke mediadiensten in Europa en trekt het belangrijke conclusies voor de toekomst van de branche. Het ontwerp van Alt8 benadrukt de behoefte aan duidelijkheid en perspectief in onzekere tijden, met heldere teksten en grafieken in vertrouwenwekkend diepblauw tegenover een zonnig geel dat vanuit de naden schijnt. Door het gebruik van focus en gedeeltelijk verhulling betrekken de foto’s van Tomas Mutsaers de lezer bij een zoektocht naar wat er werkelijk toe doet. Het resulteert in een hardcover magazine dat de opmerkelijke veerkracht van de redacties weerspiegelt in ongekende omstandigheden.
