Flower Child. South African artist and photographer Walter Pierre finds new narratives within the field of fashion photography. In Blomme, a special edition of 50 signed copies, he contrasts flowers, plants and landscapes with fashion images and occasional nudes. The many connotations flowers can evoke – brittle and strong, healing and painful, seductive and repellant, obvious and ambiguous – create the same tensions that Pierre sees in nature, fashion and beauty. For the book, Alt8 chose a leporello binding, allowing colours, moods and shapes to dance to an intuitive rhythm that reinforces Pierres vision.

In Blomme, een speciale uitgave van 50 gesigneerde exemplaren, contrasteert hij bloemen, planten en landschappen met modebeelden en naakten. De talloze betekenissen die bloemen genereren – kwetsbaar en sterk, helend en kwetsend, verleidelijk en afstotend, helder en ambigu – roepen dezelfde spanning op die Pierre ziet in de natuur, mode en schoonheid. Voor het boek koos Alt8 een leporellobinding waarin kleuren, vormen en stemmingen dansen op een intuïtief ritme dat Pierres visie versterkt.
